The three Thai international airports connect flights from anywhere in the world making it simple and easy to get to Thailand. The Suvarnabhumi Bangkok airport is the center of Asian Air travel, making it by far the biggest and busiest of the three, while Phuket and Samui International airport have a much more provincial character.  Together with the three international airports, Thailand has a number of domestic airports linking the north and east easily to the south. Thai Airways International (THAI), rated as one of the best airlines in the world, is Thailand’s national carrier. Connecting a number of domestic airports together as well as international flights all over Asia. Another good option is Singapore Airlines, which have a large number of international flights connecting to Thailand.

A much cheaper option for Domestic and international flights is one of the budget airlines like Air Asia, that offer flights for less than half the price. However, keep in mind that they limit your luggage weight to 15 kilo, 33 LBS. For divers, traveling with dive equipment this is often not enough. By the time you have paid your excess baggage fees, you don’t save as much as you think.

The Public transport in Thailand is extremely well organised and obviously caters for the huge amount of tourists coming through each year. The Thai railway offers comfortable trains running in North-South and East-West lines, connecting both in Bangkok. The second class sleeper (lower bed), is a very good option for overnight and long distance travelling. The V.I.P. buses are an ok second option for long distance travelling, but less comfortable

The high speed ferries link many islands to the mainland in a fast and comfortable way. Most tourist agents in Bangkok offer combination tickets for train / bus and ferry. These combination tickets give you a very good, stress free deal as the transport from train or bus station to the various harbours is usually included in the price.
