East of Eden

East of Eden lies south east of island # 7 and is without a double the most famous divesite of the Similans.

Drifting along this colorful and vibrant reef, you will come across enormous orange and red Gorgonians, beautiful Barrel Sponges as well as Staghorns, Table corals and Pore corals, decorated with colorful Christmas Tree Worms. Towards the southern point you will find a pinnacle starting at 24 meters coming up to 12 meters covered in different large and small Sea fans, enormous Table corals, endless differently colored Feather Star Worms and beautiful soft corals and Anemones attracting so much marine life, creating a eco-system by itself. The view and diversity of marine life living inside make this bommie rated as the most photographed pinnacle in the world.

Currents                                

East of Eden always has a gentle current running in a north to south direction, creating a comfortable drift dive.  

Marine Life                               

Starting the dive on the northern parts, sloping down to 30-35 meters, the sandy bottom is home to purple fire goby and dart goby and large areas of garden eels popping up and down. Especially in morning times these deep sandy patches are home to leopard sharks as well. Drifting shallower along the reef you will find almost any type of tropical fish living here, sharing their colorful homes, with banded sea-snakes, octopus and hawksbill and green turtles while moving shallower again. The bommie on the southern end of the site attracts so much marine life, that you could spend your entire dive watching the large number of tropical fish or looking for the small critters such as nudibraches and Ornate Ghostpipefish living inside.
