| Boulders and hard corals
|
The granite boulders forming together Shark Fin Reef almost run for a kilometer in length. The steep walls are so perfectly shaped you would believe they where man-made. The edge drops down to about 35 meters to a sandy bottom, while the massive boulders in the north are a bit shallower and surrounded by smaller rocks. In the sandy areas surrounding the boulders as well as on the boulders in the northern areas, parts are covered in sea fans, hard and soft corals.
Currents: The dive site is quite exposed and renowned for strong currents running in a north to south direction. On the deeper areas of the site it’s easy to find protection from the boulder at almost any part of the site, on top of the granite it’s difficult to hide. Marine life
Starting the dive in the sand and holes at the bottom giant moray eels, Kuhls stingrays as well as leopard sharks can be found. Traveling further over the rocks large boxfish, Humphead Parrot fish and Napoleon Wrasse accompanied with enormous schools of fusiliers en cleaner wrasse hang around. Covering almost the entire dive site, Pelagic fish that can be seen include Travelly, Barracuda and Tuna.
