The limestone outline, creates a stunning backdrop and a nice chance from the mainly granite scenery of the other islands. The cliff on the south-eastern point slopes almost vertical into the waters surrounding Koh Bon creating a wall down to 33 meters, leveling off on a coral ridge before descending down to 40 meters and deeper. The entire ridge is covered in nice small but very colorful soft corals, their turquoise, yellow and blue color is once again a very refreshing change from the other islands, making Koh Bon an outstanding divesite. That can’t be missed.
Currents
On the south western point the two currents join again, creating very unpredictable strong current. Most of the time the bay is sheltered, there is quite often even no current in the bay, while a ripping currents, hide just around the corner. Marine life The currents bringing in nutrient-rich water attract a lot of Manta Rays, making Koh Bon Manta Ray Heaven. Besides the Manta Rays, it also attracts loads of different types of Reef Sharks, Several schools of Barracuda, Trevallies and tuna hunting around. It is very easy to forget the impressive wall and all the cracks have to offer, and spend your entire dive staring out in the blue. On the ridges you will find nudibranches, pipefish, manta shrimps, Sea snakes, Octopus,Cuttlefish and cowrieshells in all colours as well.
If the conditions allow for a night dive, the ridge transforms in to Lobster city making it a very interesting night dive.
