Page 10 of 10 Richelieu Rock Laying 20 kilometer south east from the Surin islands, Richelieu Rock has it all. The best dive site in the area, the best dive site in Thailand and rated as one of the top dive sites in the world. Richelieu Rock is a sensation for every dive enthusiast.
Descending down, you will be greeted by a carpet of beautifully color anemones, so close together, there is hardly any rock left to see, the limestone pinnacle sloops steeply to the sandy bottom, only increasing the amount of soft corals. The corals not only increase in number, but they get bigger and more colorful too. The south side is more secured and slopes gently to the deeper areas that exists of sheer walls, rocks and small caves. The middle of the horse-shoe shaped pinnacle offers a comfortable sheltered area for beginners. Currents Completely exposed, the currents on Richelieu Rock can be very strong. The south side incline is a bit more protected and can be of great shelter during strong currents. Marine life
Cruising around Richelieu Rock, you will find different types of Snappers, Big eye and blue finned Trevally, big schools of Cheveron Barracuda’s, blue powered surgeon fishes Cuddle fish, Turtles, many different types of Morey Eels eels like the commonly spotted white eyed, giant, yellow edged, and bartail morays or the shy dragon, leopard, honeycomb and zebra morays , nursesharks and almost any type and color of reef fish, angel fish, butterfly fish, and groupers. With frequent Whaleshark and Manta Ray visits, Richelieu Rock has so much to offer, that divers can’t get enough and keep on coming back to the sensational Richelieu Rock. |

The currents running through Richelieu Rock bring in food and nutrients creating a vibrant and extremely healthy environment for all sorts of marine life.
But Richelieu Rock is more, it’s a macro heaven. A wide variety of clown fish including the tomato clown fish, Juvenile sweetlips, cube box fish, many species of shrimps like the dancing cleaners, anemone, saron, squat and harlequin shrimps, Seahorses, Ornate Ghostpipefish, Frogfish, stonefish, scorpion fish and a variety of nudibraches make it a paradise for underwater photographers.
